The Power of Inclusive Language

CISV is a diverse organization that strives to build intercultural awareness and understanding. An important part of becoming an active global citizen is becoming aware of the impact your behaviour has on others, consciously trying to ensure that you treat everyone with respect. Effective communication is essential.

The words we use when we talk to people can have an enormous impact. Inclusive language is “language that avoids the use of certain expressions or words that might be considered to exclude particular groups of people”.

Check out “Using Inclusive Language: Guidelines and Examples” from Rider University to learn more about how to use inclusive language in your programme, workplace, and daily life to make your environment better and more enjoyable for everyone.
